I am on a mission to find my people.
You know, those people you just click with as soon as you meet?
You might be my people if you…
… love to work collaboratively. I am an idea generator! I’ll admit, they cannot ALL be winners, but magic happens when we brainstorm the possibilities.
… are not afraid to try new approaches and don’t fear the occasional failure. Some of the most innovative products, technologies, and services were born out of screwing up an idea.
… are high energy, intelligent, and can be decisive. Sometimes we have to pull the trigger and EXECUTE the idea. Yeah, it can be scary. Do it anyway!
… like open-mindedness. I have a motto: “When you know better, you do better.” Nothing destroys innovation like “this is how we’ve always done it.” Let’s do BETTER!
… are interested in philosophy and human behavior. I’m in the relationship building business. I CARE about people and it’s easier to care when we understand each other.
… can be a little irreverent and have a fun sense of humor. I’m never mean-spirited, but I admit that my filter sometimes gets clogged and I surprise even myself by what I say sometimes. But some of those unfiltered thoughts are my best ones! I love authenticity. I’ll bring it and will look for it in you.
… value diversity and learning about others by listening.
… love winning! Winning is a byproduct of amazing culture so, absolutely, I enjoy people who love to win and aren’t afraid to admit it.
… are committed to personal growth. If we are not growing, we are going backwards and people who want to grow their whole lives are the kinds of people who can lead an organization into enviable culture.
… look to yourself first when you seek change. I’m here to help and to guide. I have a lot of experience, intuition, enthusiasm, ideas, and vision. But you have to be a leader and leaders have to be willing to look in the mirror. I’ve told my kids their whole lives that the only person we can change is ourselves. Change yourself and be amazed at how powerful that is.
On a more personal note…
I’m a veteran broadcaster for the U.S. Air Force. If you were in Panama in the mid 90’s, I was writing, editing, shooting, directing, producing and delivering your news!
I was an Executive Assistant to the Director of Human Resources for a national food supply company. I learned an awful lot about what not to do in a place that didn’t value diversity, women, or honesty very much. There are many ways to get ahead in business. Today, I choose to only work with people who share my values to care about others.
I was a leader in a worldwide organization supporting new nursing moms (“Whassup, La Leche Leaguers!”) where I trained other leaders, and started new groups. I was privileged to gain extensive training in leadership, reflective listening, and allowing others to reach their own truths. I am super enthusiastic about empowering people.
I single-handedly took a little elementary chess club from seven kids to over fifty in one year! I didn’t know how to play chess but I knew how to inspire those kids and teach concepts and boy did they bring home the trophies! Proudest moment: A 3rd grader’s dad said, “My kid keeps beating me at chess now!”
I fell in love with the dental industry in 2007 and quickly moved up the ranks to office management. I made every dentist I worked for more profitable by CARING. Caring for the business, caring for the team, and caring for the patients. Enviable Culture doesn’t happen without someone who cares. A lot.
Today, besides working with dental teams, I am a mom to Marc and Rachael, a partner to Rudy, and I run a neighborhood book club and a monthly poker tournament. I’m amazed all the time how Enviable Culture seeps into all aspects of my life. From parenting my teenage children to delicately navigating conflicts in social groups. I use my own principles in my own life. And I’m here to attest… it works!
I believe we should seek 3 people in our lives:
~Someone we are mentoring
~Someone who is mentoring us
~Someone who walks by our side where we can find mutual support
In my company, I want to find people who are genuinely seeking a mentor, and who see me as the right person to help them reach their goals.
Are you my people?
The best way to find out for sure is to have the conversation!
